The Florida Interscholastic Cycling League was founded in 2018 as a non-profit (501(c)3) Project League of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA). We facilitate the development of high school and middle school teams/clubs for grades 6-12 and provide the education, training, licensing, and insurance for coaches and volunteers. We also produce high-quality mountain bike events and races that emphasize the value of participation, camaraderie, positive sporting behavior, and well-being over competition.
The focus for 2018 and 2019 will be on coach training, NICA GRiT and development of our race series. Our first race season will commence during the spring of 2020, with team practices starting December of 2019. In 2021, we look to expand our programming to include trail maintenance, adventure programs, and skills clinics for student-athletes.
Our vision is to improve the lives of Florida’s youth and communities through cycling.
Provide high quality, safe and fun mountain bike programs for Florida’s youth, exposing students to the opportunity to build strong body, mind, and character through an equal and inclusive scholastic-based program. The Florida Interscholastic League:
- Welcomes and supports diversity in ability, gender, ethnicity, orientation and skill level
- Promotes health and fitness in both teens and their families
- Rides responsibly and safely
- Gets kids and families outside
- Promotes trail maintenance, trail building and environmental awareness
